José Andrés chose Haiti. That choice changed hundreds of lives.
Chef Mi-Sol Chevallier
It began with an act of faith.
By choosing Haiti as the home of World Central Kitchen's first culinary school, Chef José Andrés opened a door no one had walked through before: professional culinary training, built to international standards, in the heart of Port-au-Prince.
Chef Mi-Sol Chevallier, with over 40 years of culinary expertise, welcomed that vision and made it real. Together, they built a rigorous, demanding, deeply human program, training young Haitians not just to survive in a kitchen, but to excel in one.
Since 2022, Atelier des Chefs has carried that mission forward independently. We now count more than 290 graduates trained to international professional standards, carrying Haitian culinary expertise into kitchens across the world.
Chef José Andrés' generosity lives in every one of them.
The mission has also evolved. For our graduates scattered across the world, we built a trilingual professional directory, so that wherever they landed, their training speaks for them.
Atelier des Chefs grew out of the collaboration between Chef Mi-Sol Chevallier and Chef José Andrés through World Central Kitchen's École des Chefs program.
Train the next generation of Haiti's chefs.
