About Us

Atelier des Chefs (French for "chef's workshop") is Haiti's premier culinary training institution, dedicated to preparing the next generation of chefs for successful careers in the country's top commercial kitchens and on the international stage.

Our journey began in 2015 as a partnership between World Central Kitchen and Haiti's Department of Education, born from a vision that food can be a positive agent of change for communities in need. After two years of remarkable growth, we evolved into École des Chefs in 2017, establishing ourselves as the country's leading culinary school in Port-au-Prince.

In 2022, under the visionary leadership of Chef Mi-sol Chevallier, we became an independent institution and adopted our current name, Atelier des Chefs, reflecting our commitment to hands-on, workshop-style culinary education.

Our Philosophy

At Atelier des Chefs, we believe that entering the kitchen is a calling. Our approach is rooted in discipline, excellence, and the understanding that being a chef means continuous growth and learning. We don't just teach cooking techniques. We shape professionals who understand that exchange and sharing are at the heart of culinary arts.

Our curriculum centers on hands-on training in our world-class professional kitchen, where aspiring chefs gain real-world experience under expert guidance. Our full dining room provides additional opportunities for training and hosting events, ensuring our students are prepared for every aspect of professional culinary work.

We train young chefs who can work in any restaurant on an international scale, in Haiti's finest establishments and beyond. Our track record speaks for itself: 180+ skilled graduates, 100% internship placement, and 60% job placement following internship completion.

Our Vision for Haitian Cuisine

At Atelier des Chefs, we're working toward a future where Haiti no longer needs to call on foreign chefs to teach us to cook or to teach us food hygiene. We believe in elevating every aspect of Haitian gastronomy, from fine dining to street food, because to know a people, you must know what they eat.

We're committed to technical excellence, proper hygiene standards, and the revalorization of Haitian cuisine at every level. Through rigorous training and unwavering standards, we're building a culinary movement that will define Haiti's gastronomic future.

More Than a School

Atelier des Chefs stands ready to serve our community beyond the classroom. When Haiti faced a devastating 7.2-magnitude earthquake in August 2021, our students, graduates, and Chef Mi-sol worked together to serve nourishing meals to affected communities within the first 24 hours. We remain prepared to act as an emergency relief kitchen whenever the need arises.

Today, we continue to lead Haiti's culinary industry, shaping skilled professionals who carry forward a tradition of excellence, discipline, and love for the craft.
